Jackson Youth Football Tackle Combine & Team Details

Who: All Jackson Tackle (both A and B leagues) participants are required to attend, unless excused.

When: Sunday, July 23 – Tuesday, July 25, 2017 (3 days) from 6-8 pm.  Check will begin at 5:30 pm.  (Note:  Rain date will be Wednesday, July 26)

Where: Wales and Roby Fields (just East of Jackson Middle School, between Bus Garage and Tennis Courts)

What: The combine is a 3-day camp that will be comprised of player evaluation, fundamentals and conditioning.  Players should wear t-shirts, shorts, spikes and bring their helmet. Please bring plenty of water.

Tackle A League (6th & 7th Graders):
  • Commissioner: Chris Macrides
  • Head Coaches: Matt Bessler (Gold), Eric Johnson (Purple)

Tackle B League (4th & 5th Graders):
  • Commissioner: Glen Maurer
  • Head Coaches: Donnie Childress (Gold), Jason Lahr (Purple), Chris Essig (White), James Groetz (Silver), Glen Maurer (Black)


One of our objectives is to ensure that all of our teams are competitive, whether competing in the Northern Ohio Youth Football Conference (A-League) or in-house (B-league).  We manage competitive balance through a draft, following our combine, where we evaluate our players over the course of 3 days at our combine.  With this, please know that rosters and assistant coaching assignments could change if it is in the best interest of our program and the overall experience of each and every one of our players.

What to Expect:

Following the combine, we will hold a draft on Thursday, July 27th for both the A and B leagues. With this, expect to receive an email from your son’s respective coach on Friday, July 28th. 


Practices for all tackle teams will begin on Monday, July 31st.  Details will be communicated from your respective coach.  Tackle A will practice 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) until school starts.  Tackle B will only practice 3 days a week (days of the week TBD.)  Practices will be held during the evening.

Equipment Handout Make-Up Date:

For those that have not been fitted for their equipment, please report to our Equipment Shed (behind Jackson’s Varsity Baseball field on Fulton Road) on Saturday, July 22 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
